Balabans in the city

I do not work at Us on Fridays so I finally got the opportunity to return all of my job applications. I feel pretty good about it because I set up an interview at Free People and Madewell and Urban said they would call me. Although some of the places made it clear they were not hiring for just the summer, I just need one! My very good friend Leanna and her family are in town for a bat mitzvah so Katy and I planned on meeting up with her to go shopping in Soho. Katy and I went to Brandy Melville first, which is one of our favorite places in LA and each got a few things, and Katy managed to tame herself better than me this time. I got Jen the black, cross-body bag I already have and she has been eyeing because we don't have a Brandy in Seattle. Leanna was still shopping with her friend Michael, who lives in the city, so Katy and I moved on to Madewell (a different store than the one I applied to). Of course I saw amazing things in there, but I limited myself to the sale rack which was lack-luster for me. After Katy got an ice cream cone and a little break, we met up with Leanna and her mom, who very nicely bought us all waters. We walked through a few stores before ending up in Bloomingdale's. Katy and I helped Leanna find a pinkish colored lipstick and then we met up with Leanna's mom. We all shared a cab back, making a few stops to drop Katy and I off, which was very nice of Leanna's mom (I love her, she is so generous!) and we made plans to meet up at Katy's apartment a little later. After a quick nap, I couldn't decide what to wear so I brought a few options over to Katy's where I got ready for the night. Yesterday was Katy's uncle's birthday (the one who she is living with this summer) and for his birthday party his daughter, who is also a journalist, organized for a bunch of family and friends to go to a concert in Brooklyn. Johnny and Susie (Katy's aunt and uncle), Katy, Leanna, Ben (a family friend) and I all look the train into Brooklyn. We all had a few drinks and listened to the music, and then after a few hours we decided to go back into the city and meet up with one of Katy's friends. That didn't end up working out so we went to the bar/restaurant where Leanna's friend Michael works as a barback. It was really fun talking to him and the bartender, Jaime (she was hilarious and super nice). Katy and I want to become regulars there. We had some awesome chicken tenders that were deep fried in panko, and they were so good. It was getting late and Katy and I were really tired, so we shared a cab back to Katy's apartment because I left all of my stuff there. I was a little nervous to walk home by myself, but it was fine and I never felt unsafe. Katy made me text her when I was back, safe in my dorm.

Tonight Leanna's family is taking us out to dinner, and then we are going out with Michael and his friends, which should be really fun. I think Katy and I are going sleep at Leanna's hotel with her tonight because we were planning on it last night, but didn't. The roommate is also moving in tomorrow morning, so I will let you know how tonight and tomorrow goes! Here are a few pictures to make up for not posting yesterday.
